Motorcycles and power steering is a combination that is rather rare. But Yamaha has decided to develop one. How does it help?
Power steering tends not to be used on motorcycles. It just seems unnecessary. However, Yamaha has decided to develop an EPS (Electronic Power Steering).
Yamaha’s “new” invention is to be applied to motocross bikes. Testing will begin with the YZ450FM and YZ250F models. Unlike passenger cars, however, it is not supposed to help with turning. The role of the booster will be similar to a steering damper.
With this solution, Yamaha wants to work on the bike’s agility and stability, as well as reduce rider fatigue. So it may turn out that this solution will be popularized and will find its way to many motorcycles for riding in difficult terrain.
